About The Symposium

The 2005 William E. Colby Military Writers Symposium
The Rules of War
- April 6-8 , 2005 - Norwich University

The Rules of War is the theme for the 10th Anniversary of the Colby Symposium to be held Wednesday, April 6th through Friday, April 8th on the Norwich University campus in Northfield, Vermont. Joining co-founders W.E.B. Griffin and Carlo D'Este this year will be Sean Naylor, Edward M. “Mac” Coffman, Ralph Peters, Bryan Mark Rigg, Thomas B. Allen, Paul Dickson, among others. John Callaway, a forty year veteran of Chicago Public Television and host of “Chicago Stories” will moderate the Public Session in historic Plumley Armory. I have enclosed a preliminary schedule to assist you in planning.

Each year the Colby Symposium offers in-class presentations, featured panel discussions, social functions for students, faculty and guests along with the public session which is presented free and attended by the entire Norwich Corps of Cadets. Please note that this year, the public session and the “Meet the Authors” dinner will be held on Thursday, April 7th.

Your support makes this program possible and provides sponsorships for many Norwich students to attend the dinner with our distinguished guests. Last year, over 70 students – both Corps and civilian – participated in the dinner. The highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the 2005 Colby Award.

The 2005 Colby Awards will be presented to the winners at the Meet the Authors Dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 7th.
