The Colby Award

In 1999, the William E. Colby Military Writers' Symposium introduced the Colby Award, recognizing a first work of fiction or non-fiction that has made a major contribution to the understanding of intelligence operations, military history, or international affairs. Presented each spring at the 'Meet the Authors' Dinner and Reception, the award is a handsomely framed shadowbox of the selected title.

The Founders Award
In addition, in 2002 the organizers of the Symposium established the Founders Award, which recognizes outstanding scholarship by a member of the Norwich University faculty. In 2003, Dr. Reina Pennington, professor of history, became the inaugural recipient of this award for her extraordinary scholarship and dedication to Norwich University .
